Hi! Hope you had a fab long weekend… still not totally sure what day it is, but at least we’ve got good outfits to carry us through.
I’ve been seeing ‘how to wear color’ content everywhere lately. Which makes sense, summer hath arrived. But this week, I went in the opposite direction… wearing only black, white and brown. I wear color 90% of the time (I RARELY wear all black), so this felt like a fun little experiment.
Black, white, and brown is a killer combo. Not groundbreaking, but so good. It makes black and white feel more styled and intentional. One of my favorite tips I tell my clients is to pair a brown belt with black pants instead of defaulting to black. It’s a small switch, but it adds contrast and feels thoughtful.
I kept reaching for the combo, so I ran with it. I made myself stick to black, white, and brown all week and ended up loving the outfits I pulled together. Getting dressed was SO much easier. I feel like this is how most people dress and now I really get why. Wearing color takes more energy. It takes more styling to feel pulled together.
I’m definitely not anti-color for summer! Butttt taking a little neutral break felt like a styling reset I now realize I needed.
Alas here’s what I wore this week with my new fav color combo:
This was the outfit that kicked it all off. I wanted the lace trim on the top to show, so I paired it with white pants. It felt a little flat at first, but the brown/tan bag made it feel styled.

You need a brown bandana for the summer:

I could have maybe gone without the hat here. My fav part is the brown flower pin on the black tuber.

The tones balance each other. Black is bold. White is clean. Brown is earthy. They frolic so nicely together.

Had a killer boat day, wore a black bikini with a brown scarf tied around my waist under a white shirt dress. I pinned the back of the dress to keep it open as it’s super oversized.

Black and white can sometimes feel stark or too formal. Brown softens the combo and brings warmth. It adds depth without introducing ‘color.’

Here are dark chocolate brown boots with a black blazer and white tee.

You can mix shades of brown too, it will still work (prom).

If you take one thing from this, let it be that a brown belt with black pants really does something.
BWB!! Not new, but it did make everything feel new. She may be neutral, but she aint boring.
Love yousss

Brown is always a favorite. Immediately added the track pants to cart
There's something so fresh about this colour palette in summer. Looove all the outfits, especially the dress!
